After watching Tony Northrup’s excellent video on the effect of crop factor I thought I’d try to create a page that would do this calculation. This is a work in progress!
NOTE: On the GH4 in video mode your crop 2.3, not 2.0. 2.0 is for photo-mode. As I am interested in shooting video, that is what this page does.
You enter your 4/3 len’s focal length and aperture (f-stop) setting and click calculate to see what you are actually getting in the world of 35mm. Of course, what I really need to do is the other way around… that’s coming!
This online calculator allows you to calculate the 35mm equivalent Focal Length for a micro 4/3 camera (eg Panasonic GH4)

hi, is this working for full frame lenses? i am using a gh4 with metabones xl and a canon 24-70 2.8. thanks
Your calculator is wrong! Equivalent f-stop is not real f-stop * crop factor squared. It is real f-stop * crop factor. So, f/2 lens on MFT is equivalent to f/4.6 for 4k video, and f/4 for 1080p video.
